Léo Quierveux's site

By luck I have stumbled upon Léo Quierveux's site.
Léo is famed for his contributions to the Le Dernier Cri
portfolio - see Sag, Polizia 06, Nuevo Rodeo... as
well as entries in the Hopital Brut series (print and movie).
On show is a very nice overview of his personal works and
comics as well as his illustrations for the printed press.
A worthwhile place to visit!

Grand opening of "The Eyecatcher's Candystore"

I have opened up another blog
"The Eyecatcher's Candystore" offering, for sale or trade,
a selection of rare silkscreened prints, books and original art
(drawings and or paintings) by some of todays finest "underground"
comic and graphzine artists. Works from 70's and 80's greats like
Pascal Doury, Bruno Richard, the Bazooka Group, R. Slocombe
and others, as well as some works by our current favorites from the

Rory has been of massive influence on later favorites

Paper is cheap, abundant and disposed of almost too easily. Patrick Miceli deals with fast food packaging one of the most pervasive uses of our culture’s use of this resource. As such, it is a relic left in the wake of our consumer society. Each of four installations use their own format or strategy to take recognizable materials and recontextualize them. Each scrap of paper can be seen as an archeological keepsake or fetish item.

Paris-based artist Bruno Richard has been publishing books and magazines of graphic drawings, text and photo-based work since the late 1970s. He and Marc Fischer, Chicago-based artist and member of the groups, Temporary Services and Mess Hall, have engaged in mail correspondence since 1998, resulting in a mountainous barrage of detritus that Fischer has received from Richard. Fischer’s archives of Richard’s multitudinous mailed packages have swelled beyond reason. The scraps of paper that provide the source material for Richard’s work, give the impression of a manic energy. This is, however, a controlled concern with one’s obsessions; an aesthetic contrivance that has not lost its authenticity.

Wished I could join you folks there but alas am taken work wise.

LDC at Fantastic Film Festival Brussels

Went to see the Le Dernier Cri "Hopital Brut 7" release party
yesterday at the Fantastic Film Festival in Brussels.
Have met the ever so cute and super nice madonna
Caroline Sury. On show were the latest releases
by LDC a.o Hopital Brut 7, the new Stu Mead book,
the super gorgeous "Police 2006" by Léo as well as their
latest DVD release "Religions Sauvages" which was
simultaniously being performed/ broadcasted live
by Pakito and Fredox elswhere at the venue (Cinema Nova).
Appart from these treasures most of the serigraphed prints
were on display too (WOOWWWW the Keiti Oota ones are so great).
Pitty no original art was presented which would have put
the cherry on the cake ;) A more then worthwhile visit!
